Chemguard Foam Saves Lives, Equipment in Iraq

Mansfield, Texas, September 26, 2007 -  The Intelagard Macaw compressed air foam (CAF) backpack uses Chemguard {{Chemguard product name}} foam to protect troops and equipment in Iraq.  Expanded by {{expansion rate}}, the Chemguard {{product name}} can be shot up to 40 feet (12 meters) with the Macaw backpack, protecting the user while achieving quick knockdown.

“Intelagard Macaw backpacks continue to be purchased by the U.S. military for deployment on Stryker armored vehicles, Humvees, and heavy equipment transporter system (HETS) tractor-trailers,” said Dennis Smagac, president of Intelagard.  “Chemguard’s flexibility and support have enabled us to provide this much needed protection for our troops, saving lives and valuable equipment.”

Intelagard’s Macaw is the first portable, independent CAF backpack in the world.  Designed for emergency response in demanding environments, Macaw is used by the military and hazmat teams, as well as municipal firefighters and other fire-fighting professionals.  In addition to fire suppression, applications include decontamination, exposure protection, hazmat cleanup, industrial fire control, mop up and overhaul, vapor suppression, and wet-line construction.

“Chemguard worked with Intelagard to . . . {{what challenges did Chemguard and Intelagard face that Chemguard’s foam solved?}},” noted John Vieweger, Chemguard vice president of sales and marketing.  “{{continue the quotation?}}.”
