New Chemguard Fire-Fighting Fluorosurfactants Improve
AFFF, AR-AFFF, and FFFP Formulations

Mansfield, Texas, April 10, 2007   Chemguard is introducing a new line of fire-fighting fluorosurfactants to compliment our extensive line of fire-fighting foam concentrates.  Compatible with amphoteric, anionic, cationic, and nonionic hydrocarbon and fluorochemical surfactants, the four new fluorosurfactants exhibit many desirable characteristics for fire-fighting formulations, including:

  • Nonflammable
  • Very low surface tension
  • Excellent foaming
  • Superior drain time
  • Improved burn-back

The new Chemguard fire-fighting fluorosurfactants can be used to prepare highly efficient aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) agents.  In addition, they can be used as foam-stabilizing additives in alcohol-resistant aqueous film-forming foam (AR-AFFF).  The new products also are compatible with film-forming fluoroprotein (FFFP) formulations.
