Current NewsChemguard Nurse Trailers Selected for QatarMansfield, Texas, May 31, 2010 -- Chemguard has fabricated four foam storage/transport trailers for Shell Petroleum in Qatar. Designed for rapid deployment to locations where foam concentrate is required, these heavy-duty “nurse” trailers will be used to provide support for fire suppression and spill mitigation activities and to refill smaller foam vessels.
Custom built, each nurse trailer has a 1,600 gallon (6,056 liter), horizontal, cross-linked high-density polyethylene storage tank. Hose storage bins, one on each side of the trailer, hold six 10 foot (3 meter) hose sections each, for a total of 120 feet (36 meters) onboard hose-storage capacity. Other features include a gravity-feed manifold for off loading foam to other foam vessels, four holders for high-back-pressure foam makers, and two 9 cubic foot (0.25 cubic meter) lockable storage compartments. The Shell nurse trailers are 19 feet 2 inches (584 centimeters) long and 7 feet 2 inches (218 centimeters) wide and carry a 22,000 pound (10,000 kilogram) gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). The trailers are compatible with all Chemguard foam concentrates. Shell, a Chemguard foam concentrate customer, ordered the nurse trailers through PETROTEC, a major Qatar distributor.
